Objective
Exchange on overarching topics in recycling processes, within the research focus "Plastics in the Environment" but also with projects funded in other ways:
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
- to concretise system boundaries for end-of-life treatment
- LCA becomes an integral part of cross-cutting topic5
- Waste and chemicals legislation
- Distinction waste/product
- Determining recycling quotas for packaging waste
- Approval of raw materials and materials from secondary raw materials (REACH)
- Use of recycled products
- Distinction primary raw material/secondary raw material
- Quality requirements for recycled products
- A vision of a circular economy: the role of different processes in tomorrow's recycling landscape

Outlook
Central fields of work for further cooperation are:
- the development of a better understanding of LCA in recycling processes in order to be able to compare recycling processes in detail;
- establishing a broad concept of recycling in politics and society.
