Eliminating Plastic and Microplastic Pollution - 2nd Stakeholder Conference
Eliminating Plastic and Microplastic Pollution - 2nd Stakeholder Conference
Plastic and micro plastic is receiving increasing political, societal and scientific concern. A lot has been achieved in the recent years: among other achievements, the EU has issued a Plastics Strategy and a single use plastics legislation is currently under negotiation. The need to implement this existing EU strategy is now one of the main challenges ahead.
Jointly organized by the Austrian Presidency, IUCN and the Network of European Environment Agencies, the 2nd Stakeholder Conference on Plastic and Micro Plastic Pollution aims at identifying the issues that are most urgently to be addressed and to define the concrete next steps for the elimination of plastics and microplastics in the environment. The conference provides an update to the first Stakeholder Conference held in 2015. An outcome paper will be elaborated after the conference to be shared with participants.
Objectives of the Conference
- Identify issues to be most urgently addressed
- Define concrete next steps for the elimination of (micro)plastic pollution in the environment
