Paid PhD position: Analytical Environmental Chemistry H2020 POLYRISK
The Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam is seeking to hire a candidate with an MSc in Analytical Environmental Chemistry (or related field) for a paid PhD position (4 years). The challenge is measuring plastic particles for a human risk assessment within a groundbreaking new EU H2020 project, POLYRISK: Understanding Exposure and Toxicity of Microplastic and Nanoplastic Contaminants in Humans.
Besides being part of an excellent European scientific consortium, the candidate is offered a salary with great benefits while earning a PhD degree.
POLYRISK is a 4-year EU H2020 research and innovation action project, starting in April 2021 .The POLYRISK consortium brings together a team of Europe’s top laboratories and risk assessors to measure plastic particles and their immuntoxicological effects on the human body. The project will
- develop and validate high tech methods for the detection, quantification and characterization of plastic particles in both the nanometer and micrometer particle size ranges
- assess epithelial transfer of the particles and their proinflammatory effects both in vitro and in real-life scenarios with humans in normal everyday scenarios;
- develop an effective human risk assessment strategy and
- exchange and communicate knowledge with stakeholders.
