Factsheet 5.2: Evaluation of treatment processes for the removal of microplastics from industrial wastewater - A comparison of processes based on different criteria using benefit analysis
Plastics can be discharged into the environment through industrial wastewater. To prevent this, special processes for the separation of plastics have been developed that can be integrated into industrial wastewater treatment plants.
In the second Fact Sheet of the EmiStop project, these processes are compared by means of a utility analysis. Economic, ecological and operational aspects as well as stakeholder interviews were taken into account. The research results facilitate the selection of suitable processes for individual starting conditions of industrial companies.
In the EmiStop research project, technologies were developed to prevent the environmental discharge of industrial plastic emissions via the wastewater pathway were investigated, evaluated and optimized. The Fact Sheet 5.2 is available for download here.
